Your responsibilities

We are looking for an internationally recognized researcher with an interdisciplinary research and teaching profile in biophysical chemistry. The professorship should deal with basic physical-chemical research with a biophysical-methodological focus. Research should focus on the investigation of biomolecules and biological systems using innovative spectroscopic methods. This may involve, for example, single-molecule spectroscopy, ultrafast spectroscopy or super-resolution spectroscopy.
The professorship is associated with teaching duties at all levels of student education for chemistry and related fields.

The successful candidate (m/f/d) is expected to be committed to the university’s strategic goals and to actively shape its holistic development (https://​www.tu-braunschweig.de/​en/​university-development-initiative). In addition to the classic service areas of a university (research, teaching and studies, transfer, governance and administration), this applies in particular to digitalisation, internationalisation, equality and diversity, as well as knowledge exchange.

  • Internationally renowned researcher in the field of Biophysical Chemistry
  • Successful track record of acquiring external research funding
  • Strong teamwork, management and leadership skills
  • Involvement in Bachelor's and Master's programmes for chemistry, especially in relation to basic education in the field of Physical Chemistry; participation in the new English-language Master's degree program "Artificial Intelligence for Molecular Sciences"
  • Readiness to network locally and nationwide with non‑university research institutions
  • Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration, particularly within the BRICS (Braunschweig Integrated Centre of Systems Biology) research center and the "Engineering for Health – from Molecules to Processes" research focus
  • Commitment to increasing the internationalisation and international visibility of Technische Universität Braunschweig
  • Commitment to diversity and equality
  • Involvement in academic self-government

International research and teaching experience, excellent command of the English language, as well as the ability and willingness to teach courses in English are mandatory.

Individual career decisions and career breaks due to parental/​family care leave affecting research output will be taken into account by the appointment committee.

Requirements, § 25 NHG

  • A degree in a relevant field
  • Pedagogical aptitude
  • Special qualification for in-depth independent scientific work, as a rule proven by an above-average doctorate
  • Additional academic achievements, usually within the framework of a junior professorship, a postdoctoral degree (Habilitation) or through achievements equivalent to a Habilitation
