Job Details
Inserm invites applications for the prestigious 2024 "Chair in Paediatric Oncology Research" program. This initiative aims to significantly expand and structure paediatric oncology research in France, focusing on cancers affecting children, adolescents, and young adults.
The battle against cancers in children, adolescents, and young adults is a key focus of the French national 2021-2030 Ten-year Strategy for Cancer Control, bolstered by additional annual funding since 2019.
Objectives:
- Enhance paediatric oncology research
- Support the formation of new research teams in the area
- Attract top talent in the field

Program Highlights:
Salary: €85k/year for 5 years (if no previous source of remuneration)
Research Budget: €1M over 5 years
Team Formation: Recruit staff, welcome internal mobility, or establish collaborations within the host structure. Call open from: 1st July to 27th September, 5pm
Eligibility:
- Open to researchers of any nationality
- No PhD time limit or age requirement
- Candidates may be tenured or non-tenured, from any institution type
- Flexible residency requirement in France (max. 36 months at application time)
- Possibility to combine with other funding (Atip/Avenir, CPJ/ANR, ERC)
Host Institution Requirements:
Must provide optimal working conditions, including access to technological platforms and a dedicated workspace of at least 50 m².
Targeted domains:
Proposed projects should be innovative, address current challenges in the field, and have potential benefits for patients. They should fall within the scope of fundamental or translational research, excluding purely clinical research, and can span any discipline, including epidemiology and the social sciences and humanities. Projects must align with the technical environment of the host institution and provide significant added value. The projects should be designed to span a 60-month period.
