About the team
Cell Press is seeking a dynamic scientist for a full-time, unique joint role based in our Beijing, Shanghai, or Shenzhen, China offices. You will be a key member of both the Cell Metabolism editorial team and the Research Integrity and Author Experience team. This position offers the opportunity to work with multiple Cell Press family journals across a broad range of scientific topics, with flexible work arrangements considered. We welcome applications from candidates with a strong expertise in metabolism, particularly those with translational and/or clinical research experience.
About the role
You will engage with and shape basic and translational metabolism research, recruit exciting studies, assess submitted research papers, write and edit content for the Cell Metabolism journal homepage and social media outlets, and play an active role in the development and implementation of journal strategy. Additionally, you will work on cross-journal projects and initiatives, coordinating closely with authors and editors to optimize overall publishing success across our portfolio of biomedical and life science journals. The job also entails traveling to scientific conferences and research where you will directly interact with the scientific community and hear about cutting-edge research developments.
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in any area related to the topics that Cell Metabolism covers, with MDs with extensive research experience also considered. Candidates should have strong communication skills, an interest in engaging with the scientific community, and the ability to work well in diverse team settings.
Candidates with 4 years or more of editorial experience will be considered for a Senior Editor level. Candidates with less or no editorial experience may be considered for a more junior role.

Requirements:
A Ph.D. in any area related to the topics that Cell Metabolism covers. MDs with extensive research experience may also be considered. Ability to think critically about a wide range of scientific issues Strong communication skills Interest in engaging with the scientific community Talent for distilling complex concepts and communicating them effectively Strong teamwork skills and a collaborative problem-solving mindset Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to balance a range of priorities to achieve overall team goals The ability to work well in diverse team settings, across time zones and countries Very good communication skills, with an interest in science communication and publishing trends
