Postdoctoral Scholar
The Paczesny laboratory is seeking highly motivated candidates for a post-doctoral fellowship studying immunotherapy including allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation to treat leukemia. The major interests of the lab are in proteomics and biomarkers, graft-versus-host disease and graft-versus leukemia, tumor immunology, novel immunotherapies including cell-based and small molecules, and understanding the alarmin IL33/ST2 axis during inflammatory diseases. In this position, you will have the opportunity to develop and lead projects using several cutting-edge model systems including novel bone marrow transplantation, and xenograft in vivo systems, and primary patient samples. You will also gain extensive experience and training in proteomics, leukemia models, and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation pre-clinical models.
Job Duties:
50% - Develop and lead projects using several cutting-edge model systems including hematopoietic cell transplantation and novel xenograft in vivo systems, and primary patient samples. Each project leading to a presentation at a national meeting as well as manuscript of impact factor > 6. - (Essential)
25% - Perform immunology techniques including ELISAs, flow-based cytokine determination, cellular proliferation and cytotoxicity assays including for collaborative work on multi-institutional grants. - (Essential)
20% - Train in proteomics, hematopoietic cell transplantation biology, and pre-clinical study development. Similarly the outcomes will lead to a publishable manuscript - (Essential)
5% - Perform other essential duties as requested. These will include maintain animal colonies, collaborate with DLAR to provide the best animal care, update IACUC and IBC protocols, order supplies for the laboratory. - (Essential)
Preferred Experience & Additional Skills: Successful applicants will have a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. with substantial hands-on research experience in immunology; a strong publication record in recognized peer-reviewed journals; experience with animal models of cell adoptive transfer, bone marrow transplantation and/or leukemia is required; experience with multicolor flow cytometry and in immunology techniques including ELISAs, flow-based cytokine determination, cellular proliferation and cytotoxicity assays; be meticulous at planning, executing, and organizing the results for large scale assays. Must also be capable of taking initiative, work independently and in a collaborative setting. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, as are excellent organizational skills and knowledge of proper scientific record keeping as well as being comfortable in a fast-paced environment and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities.
