The tolerance of plants to climatic changes and short-term fluctuations in environmental conditions is determined by their adaptation and acclimatization capacities. In the Plant Physiology group of the Freie Universitaet Berlin we are especially interested in plastid-controlled protection mechanisms, the signalling processes that adjust it to changing environmental conditions and the consequences on plant growth, productivity and survival.  We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher who can further develop the molecular-physiological investigation of adaptive and acclimatory environmental potential of plants and teach future scientists and biology teachers in basic and advanced plant physiology.

 

Job description:


Your tasks:

Participation in research and teaching are expected:

  • Develop and implement an independent research project with focus on the interconnection of the plastid protection system with signalling and stress control
  • Participate in research projects within the Plant Physiology working group
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences
  • Collaborate with team members, participate in group meetings and seminars
  • Teach undergraduate courses
  • Mentor undergraduate and doctoral students, and supervise visitors
  • Raise external research funds
  • Contribute to departmental and institutional service and outreach activities
  • the position serves scientific qualification (Habilitation)

Requirements:

  • completed scientific university degree (Master/Diplom) in biology, biochemistry or a related subject
  • Ph.D. in Molecular Plant Physiology or a closely related field

 

Desirable:

  • at least 3 years in the field of molecular plant sciences / plant stress physiology
  • Excellent publication record
  • Previous post-doctoral experience and teaching experience are preferred
  • Excellent communication and team working skills
  • The working language is English
  • Teaching is partly done in German: Very good German language skills are required at the time of the appointment
