The Laboratory of Neural Circuit Modulation in the Departments of Neurology and Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking highly motivated and creative scientists. The applicant will join an NIH-funded lab to engage in basic and translational neuroscience research. The laboratory uses in vivo imaging, electrophysiology and optogenetic approaches to better understand mechanisms that control neural activity dynamics, and to develop strategies to inhibit epilepsy.
Job Duties
- Plans, directs, and conducts research experiments.
- Evaluates and analyzes data.
- Develops research techniques and performs applications required for specific research projects.
- Documents results of experiments and reports to principal investigators.
- Summarizes research findings and publishes results in research journals.
- Be responsible for laboratory operations.
- Supervises, schedules, and coordinates the activities of trainees and less experienced research staff.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with rodent surgical techniques and in vivo physiology.
- Experience with programming and/or data science.
- Research experience and publication record in Neuroscience.
- Excellent written/oral communication in English.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and collaborative basic/translational research environment.
