The laboratory of Dr. Asuncion Mejias, Member in the Department of Infectious Diseases, is seeking a highly motivated individual for a Senior Researcher role interested in studying the pathogens and immune responses to respiratory viral infections in pediatric patients. Dr. Mejias is seeking a skilled Senior Researcher with experience with data management, organization, able to analyze multiparameter datasets and perform molecular analysis on clinical specimens from infants and young children with respiratory viral infections. Bioinformatics background will be desirable.

Dr. Mejias is recognized as an expert in pediatric infectious diseases and is a leader in the fields of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and other respiratory viral infections. The research team is comprised of experienced scientists, clinicians, and clinical researchers. The successful candidate should be highly organized and have experience with data management, molecular biology, infectious diseases, and clinical research.

 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Sample labeling and maintenance of records and database.
  • Data curation and inventory
  • Basic data analysis
  • Proficient in excel and other analytical software.
  • Prepares and reports results/ data leading to posters, presentations or publications
  • Performs basic laboratory experiments independently using established techniques/protocols (i.e PCR, ELISAS, etc).
  • Sets up protocols, trouble shoots experiments using new or modified laboratory techniques.
  • Accurately records experimental procedures and data.
  • May provide guidance to entry-level employees.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned in order to meet the goals of the department and institution
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance

 

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific area is required.

 

Minimum Experience:

  • Two (2) years of relevant, post-degree work experience is required.
  • No experience is required with a Master's degree.

 

 

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $60,320 - $105,040 per year for the role of Senior Researcher-Department of Infectious Diseases.
