​The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics at the Faculty of Medicine (FM) of the American University of Beirut (AUB) is seeking applications for a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant / Associate Professor in Bioinformatics or Computational Biology. 

The position offers an exciting opportunity to join a prestigious university and contribute towards the initiation of an academic program in Bioinformatics, integrating the two existing research programs Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics. 

The applicant will have to attend to the following responsibilities:

  • Conduct cutting edge research in bioinformatics focusing on discovery of biomarkers, genomics, drug discovery, and comparative genomics.
  • Teach and mentor graduate students in bioinformatics courses and research, equipping them with skills instrumental in biomedical research and genomic data analysis.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, providing services when needed within the department and across disciplines 
  • Contribute to the academic community through services, fostering interdisciplinary research efforts.​

Required Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in the field of bioinformatics, computational biology or related field. 
  • Demonstrate research productivity and ability to secure funding for research projects.
  • Teaching experience.
