St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

The Department of Structural Biology at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital focuses on research that goes beyond static structures. We investigate the mechanisms by which dynamics manifest into function and perturbations result in disease, using a variety of experimental and computational approaches.

Our research is supported by state-of-the-art Technology Core Centers within the department, dedicated to protein technologies, X-ray crystallography, NMR, cryo-EM/ET, single-molecule imaging, and computational structural biology.
Our department is growing and we seek new faculty members who want to pursue bold and creative scientific projects in an open and collaborative environment.

Applicants in all areas of biophysics and structural biology will be considered for faculty positions at the Assistant Member level or above.

St. Jude offers unparalleled startup packages, equipment, laboratory space, personnel support, and continuing institutional support beyond the start-up phase, as part of our commitment to promote excellent research. The St. Jude research community fosters a highly interactive environment, with plenty of collaborative opportunities across our basic research and clinical departments, and access to exceptional institutional shared resources that support broad research endeavors including genomics, proteomics, computational biology, CRISPR-based genome editing, mouse modeling, iPSC disease modeling, cell sorting, live-cell imaging, spatial and single-cell omics modalities, and advanced image processing and analysis.

Applicants should hold a PhD and/or MD degree, have at least three years of relevant postgraduate experience, and a demonstrated track record of productivity.

We strongly encourage individuals with diverse backgrounds to apply. Diversity among our faculty is highly valued as we are committed to building a culturally diverse intellectual community. Our belief is that diversity and inclusion are critical to our mission and to bring different and innovative ways of solving problems.

With a track record of inclusion, St. Jude has ranked as one of the “Best Workplaces for Women” and “Best Workplaces for Diversity”, and consistently ranked on Glassdoor's “Best Place to Work” list. More information about working at St. Jude can be found here.
