Responsibilities The Tapscott Lab has an opening for a postdoctoral research associate who has interest in gene transcription in a chromatin context in normal development and disease and/or regulating immune privileged states in development and disease. The candidate will complement and contribute to the active research program, which includes studies of the molecular mechanisms of cell specification and differentiation, and the establishment of immune evasion in disease and regeneration. Recent work has focused on DUX4 and related factors and their role in regulating early pluripotent stem cell specification, development, and disease, including cancer and muscular dystrophy. Additional areas of interest include innate immune signaling, early development and implantation, and competitive fitness.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD in a biological science
- Excellent knowledge of fundamental molecular and cell biology
- A broad understanding of the techniques performed in the laboratory that include standard molecular biology techniques such as cloning, sequencing, RNA and DNA preparations, RT-PCR, Western blots, and tissue culture.
- Candidates need to be highly motivated and well-organized individuals who think independently and can work without close supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in particular for sharing research amongst other lab members, and wider dissemination of results through publications and presentations.
The annual base salary range for this position is from $65,484 to $100,000, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. This position may be eligible for relocation assistance.
