  • Research Field and Overview
Our laboratory develops new computational methods that combine theoretical chemistry and computational biophysics methods to achieve wide spatio-temporal exploration and predict the dynamics of various molecular systems, leading to an understanding of their functions. New methods developed by us are applied to life science, material science, and materials science. By combining first-principles simulations such as molecular dynamics and quantum chemistry with information science methods using machine learning and Bayesian statistics, we aim to realize fast and accurate predictions using new computational methods.

  • Laboratory
Theoretical Molecular Science Laboratory, RIKEN Cluster for Pioneering Research
    (Chief Scientist:Yuji Sugita)

  • Open positions
    Research Scientist: 1 position
NOTE: We are seeking individuals at the level of full-time university Assistant Professor to Associate Professor or Full-Time Lecturer for this open position.

  • Job description
A successful candidate will develop new computational methods to predict and understand the dynamics and functions of various molecular systems, including biomolecular systems. Specifically, this includes the development of computational methods for molecular dynamics and quantum chemistry, the development of molecular models such as coarse-grained, all-atom, and QM/MM, and the acceleration of simulation and modeling using information science such as machine learning and Bayesian statistics. The laboratory has developed the molecular dynamics software GENESIS. A successful candidate will collaborate with the GENESIS developers to add new functions and/or will apply simulations using GENESIS to various biological and chemical systems. Preference will also be given to individuals who will be involved in the management of the laboratory in cooperation with the chief scientist.
