The function Yara Corporate Development will lead the transformation towards more sustainable and efficient food production, by innovating our offering and the way we work. R&D and Agronomy is responsible for developing new crop nutrition products and driving agronomic excellence within the organization.

The R&D area has the mandate to drive and execute research projects to develop innovative products for crop growth improvement. The group’s focus is on identifying and verifying molecular targets in different crops to develop new products for e.g., increasing resistance against abiotic stresses.

To strengthen our team, we are looking for a dedicated Scientist – Plant Biochemistry (m/f/d) at our location in Dülmen/NRW, Germany.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and development on the scouting and discovery of delivery system compounds (carriers) that transport chemical and/or biological active molecules, including microbials, to support or improve plant uptake, translocation, and assimilation for plant biostimulation, bioregulation, and nutrient delivery.
  • Coordinate and execute scouting, design and preparation of carriers / compounds (pre-formulation) including work with external partners for their use as biostimulants or plant nutritional products to be applied via foliar or seed or fertilizer coatings.
  • Implement and develop R&D methods to evaluate efficacy of the delivery systems for active molecules. This includes evaluating their stability and mode of action under controlled lab conditions, in greenhouse, or through specialized bioassays.
  • Conduct lab and greenhouse trials to monitor plant stress responses and evaluate pre-formulation performance at the plant level.
  • Provide technical support and share knowledge with R&D teams, product management, and sales organizations. This includes information on product performance, positioning, and value proposition development.
  • Support crop nutrition products R&D organization in other tasks as required.

Profile

  • Hold a high educational degree in plant biochemistry or biotechnology, or related fields, a Ph.D. in Plant Stress Physiology is a plus.
  • Possess a minimum of 5 years of research experience on plant biochemistry or plant physiology, with focus on organic active molecules and plant carriers.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in small molecules, spanning microbial and non-microbial approaches, and their alignment with plant physiology intricacies.
  • Exhibit proficiency in laboratory techniques, particularly analytical chemistry methods, for assessing formulation composition and quality while considering plant physiology.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record in formulation chemistry, optimizing compositions while considering plant stress physiology knowledge.
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent communi­cation skills in English, with addi­tional languages being a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in multicultural and international environments.
