Salary:  £46,700 – £49,925 plus London Allowances (£3,727 & £1,402) per annum

(higher salary of £49,925 - £54,370 plus London Allowances (£3,727 & £1,402) per annum will be available for candidates with significant relevant experience)

Full time, Permanent

The LMS houses over 300 research staff and postgraduate students and is sited at Hammersmith Hospital, enjoying close links with Imperial College and the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Within the Institute, the Bioinformatics Facility works closely with the multidisciplinary Research Groups and Institute facilities to meet research needs and analysis requirements. The group works with a variety of data types; especially bulk RNAseq and scRNAseq but, increasingly, long-read, multiome, and spatial methods.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Bioinformatician with significant experience in transcriptomics and genomics to join the Facility. An in-depth knowledge of molecular biology, statistics, and bioinformatics is required and, as the Facility adapts to meet future needs, candidates with strong experience in single cell analyses, spatial techniques, or with previous experience applying Machine Learning to biological data would be highly valued.

The postholder will be responsible for managing and supervising visiting workers and students. Day-to-day, they will be expected to provide leadership and expert-level advice to other group members. Alongside the Head, the postholder will assist in management of the Facility’s work and contribute actively to the design and delivery of internal and external training.

The post provides a unique opportunity to join the LMS in its new purpose-built building and as the Institute develops its future Scientific Computing provisions.

For full details of this post and to complete an online application, please click apply and upload your CV, the names and contact details of referees, and a brief covering letter describing your interests and motivation to apply for the position.  Applications that do not provide a covering letter will not be considered.
