Job Details

The HIT Center for Life Sciences (HCSL, was established in 2016 at the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT). As HIT's first special academic zone and a pilot reform of the scientific research system, HCLS adheres to academic orientation with innovation and operates the tenure-track and PI responsibility systems in accordance with international standards. We truly invite exceptional young talents from home and abroad to explore the unknown mysteries of nature, develop their careers, and teach the future young scientists, which will help HCLS become a world-class fundamental life science research center.

HCLS has provided PIs with globally competitive salaries, a first-rate public scientific research platform, and a scholarly environment since its inception, all in an effort to inspire them to devote their efforts to fundamental scientific inquiry and the development of cutting-edge technologies, with the ultimate goal of producing groundbreaking original research achievements. A number of research accomplishments have recently been published in top journals both at home and overseas, including Nature, Science, Molecular Cell, Nature Structural & Molecular Biology, Nature Chemical Biology, Cell Research, PNAS, and others. Zhiwei Huang's group released "Structural basis of assembly of the human TCR-CD3 complex" in Nature in 2019. The high-resolution cryo-electron microscopy structure of the human T-cell receptor-co-receptor (TCR-CD3) complex (containing all eight subunits) was resolved for the first time in this study, which was a significant milestone in understanding the cellular adaptive immune mechanism and was written into European and American classic biology textbooks.

Research Directions:

neuroscience, microbiology and immunology, biophysical and structural biology (cryo-electron microscopy), metabolomics, chemical biology, nanomaterials and cell tissue engineering, proteomics, DNA damage and repair, genome editing, molecular bio-breeding and other basic or translational research fields.

HCLS is seeking for individuals with a Ph.D. or M.D. degree with several years of postdoctoral or independent research experience. They should have made globally significant scientific research accomplishments in recent years and be able to conduct innovative research on their own. Together with Weihai campus and Shenzhen campus, HIT forms the pattern of “One University, Three Campuses.” In 1951, HIT became one of 2 universities studying from USSR Educational Model. In 1954, HIT became one of China’s first six leading universities. In 1996, it entered the first batch of Top Universities in Project 211. In 1999, HIT became one of the Top Universities in Project 985, Member of C9. In 2017, HIT became one of the Double First-Class Universities in China. In 2022, 8 disciplines of HIT were included in the new list of "double world-class project".

Harbin Institute of Technology (, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, has three campuses in Harbin, Weihai and Shenzhen. HIT was founded in 1920 and recognized as one of the two model universities in 1951 for studying foreign higher education models. In 1954, it was named one of the six key educational institutions of higher education by the nation. In 1996, it was in the first batch of universities to enter the former Project 211. In 1999, it was identified as one of the 9 universities in the first batch of "985 Project". In 2017, it was selected as one of the "Double First-class" universities in China.

The HIT Center for Life Sciences (HCLS) ( was established in 2016. As the first special zone of HIT, HCLS has relatively independent academic, personnel employment and financial autonomy as well as postgraduate training system. HCLS has state-of-the-art core facilities including electron microscopy platform, imaging platform, mass spectrometry platform and experimental animal platform. In line with international standards, HCLS runs the Tenure-track system and PI responsibility system and strives to develop into world-class life science research institution in a relatively short period of time.
