W3-Professorship in Retinology and Digital Imaging
is to be filled at the earliest possible date.
At the Faculty of Medicine of Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn (University of Excellence), a professorship (W3) in Retinology and Digital Imaging is to be filled at the Department of Ophthalmology (Director: Prof. Dr. Frank G. Holz) as soon as possible. There is an excellent scientific environment with focus on diseases of the posterior segment of the eye and imaging techniques. In addition to the GRADE Reading Center located at the Department of Ophthalmology, the department is part of the Medical Imaging Center Bonn (MIB).
The University Hospital would like to recruit a distinguished personality from the field of ophthalmology who has proven his or her scientific qualification following a completed university degree as well as an above-average doctorate or a comparable special qualification through internationally visible excellent achievements in research and teaching. In addition, extensive experience in clinical retinology including retinal and macular surgery is required. Experience in machine learning and deep learning for medical imaging is furthermore desirable. Long-standing experience in interdisciplinary projects is a prerequisite, as are the acquisition of third-party funding and international collaborations. The ability to connect to the research foci of the faculty as well as the university as a whole is expected.
Requirements for employment are a completed medical university degree, the specialist qualification for ophthalmology (“Facharzt”) as well as habilitation or proof of equivalent scientific achievements. Experience in teaching according to § 36 Hochschulgesetz NRW is desirable.
