Position # 34227

Drs. Jody Haigh and Kirk McManus are seeking a Post-Doctoral Fellow to join our collaborative translational cancer research teams located in the Paul Albrechtsen Research Institute CancerCare Manitoba and the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada. Dr. Haigh directs the Cancer Modeling and Imaging Centre (CMIC), which employs leading edge approaches to generate novel cancer mouse models, while Dr. McManus directs the quantitative imaging, phenotyping and sorting (QuIPS) facility that provides state-of-the-art single cell analysis capabilities to the Institute.

Our teams offer a collaborative research environment, a focus on cancer genomics, animal modeling and the development of novel cancer therapeutics, the opportunity to learn and apply technical/theoretical skillsets, professional growth and a competitive salary. Thus, this position offers a unique opportunity for the successful applicant to bridge two research teams and facilities to gain leading-edge training and to drive a collaborative research project. The anticipated start date of this position is on or before January 15, 2024, or on a mutually agreeable date thereafter.  Position is initially for one year with the possibility to extend for an additional 2-3 years, subject to available funding and performance.

We are seeking an individual with a Ph.D. in Life Sciences with the following research experience to drive an innovative, collaborative, and translational cancer research project. Experience in the following areas is beneficial, but not essential:

  1. Mouse models, with a preference for translational cancer modeling in hematological and solid tumor contexts.
  2. CRISPR approaches, with a preference for in vitro/in vivo library screening.
  3. Single-cell analyses including multiomic approaches and downstream analyses.
  4. Molecular biology/cloning experience.
  5. Lenti-/Retro-viral delivery methodologies.
  6. In vivo/In vitro imaging approaches and downstream analyses.
  7. Strong background in cancer biology.
  8. Mentoring/training junior trainees.

As a post-doctoral fellow in Winnipeg, you will have the chance to collaborate with renowned scholars and experts at CancerCare Manitoba, the University of Manitoba and beyond.
