Do you have a vision for a new interdisciplinary centre investigating environmental systems?

 

Founded in 2003, the University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character, ranked among the top 250 universities in the world by Times Higher Education. Its research focuses on the key areas of digital transformation, medicine and health, as well as sustainable and societal development.

The University has both local and global impact and is a driving force in a country well on its way to becoming a leading knowledge-based society.

 

The University of Luxembourg will establish an Interdisciplinary Centre (IC) for environmental systems. This ideas competition is calling on outstanding scientists from around the world to submit their concepts.

 

The scientist with the most innovative and convincing ideas will be invited to apply as the founding director of the centre.

 

What we imagine

 

The new IC is to become an international reference centre in environmental systems, which includes their interdisciplinary and systemic relevance to a sustainable society and economy. The IC will stand for both excellent research and societal impact.

A concept with long-term relevance that combines local and international elements. A vision to attract the best talents from around the world to a centre that excels at both basic research and real-world

applications.

The profile of the founding director will combine an outstanding academic record with the management

capabilities to establish a new centre that emphasizes both interdisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity.

Selection

Please submit by 1 October 2023:

1. your concept as an outline proposal of max. 10 pages in English

2. a curriculum vitae of max. 3 pages in English

3. a list of publications highlighting five major publications or policy documents to environmentalsystems@minervasearch.com

 

The concepts will be evaluated by an international selection committee of independent experts.
