About You!

Actio Biosciences has an opening for a motivated and experienced full-time Senior Biostatistician, Statistical Genetics to support the discovery of drug targets for the treatment of rare and common diseases. The successful applicant will have a strong background in Mendelian Randomization, genome-wide association techniques, and approaches for causal inference. The individual will be focused on performing novel GWAS and meta-analyses, and Mendelian Randomization using these and existing GWAS results, informed by other large existing datasets for variant selection and prioritization. This individual will collaborate with data scientists on the team to make rapid progress in a dynamic new company environment.
 

You will be responsible for:

 

  • Contribute to a work environment that fosters support, collaboration, professionalism, mutual respect, and focus on unmet patient needs. Design, plan, execute, and interpret Mendelian Randomization analyses. Design, plan, execute, and interpret genome-wide association analyses. Develop and maintain local and cloud-based computational infrastructure and databases to support analytical needs. Work efficiently with very large datasets, including (but not limited to) electronic health records, clinical trial data, and nation-scale biobank datasets. Work closely with other bioinformatics team members, especially data scientist and machine learning colleagues. Communicate data to multidisciplinary teams orally and through written documentation. Prepare technical reports. Other duties as assigned.

 

You have the following skills and qualifications:

 

  • PhD in statistical genetics, biostatistics, bioinformatics, genetic epidemiology, or related field. Minimum of 4 years of experience. Up-to-date understanding of GWAS techniques, especially downstream fine-mapping and causal analyses (including but not limited to Mendelian Randomization), and other techniques for interpretation of GWAS results. Strong working knowledge of summary statistics-based and individual level data-based secondary analyses is required. Knowledge of and experience with one or more statistical programming environments or libraries, such as (but not limited to) R is preferred. Ability to tackle large, open-ended research questions independently and as part of a team. Ability to effectively prioritize workload and multi-task. Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills, both written and verbal. Ability to clearly convey methods and results to provide information to engage in collaborative improvement of analytical approaches with leadership and the informatics team.

We are committed to ensuring all employees, both current and future, receive fair and equitable pay. Base pay is one component of the total compensation package, and is determined within a range according to role, level, and location. This provides the opportunity for growth as you gain experience and develop within a role, while also allowing for differentiation based on performance. The base pay range for this role is between $139,000 and $165,000 and reflects our good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum target for the position as of the date of posting and may be modified in the future. The final base pay within the range will be determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and market demand for your expertise.
