Full Professor (W3) of Physiology

available immediately.

The professorship is associated with the management of a department in the field of
vegetative physiology.

The successful candidate is expected to represent the field of physiology in both research and teaching and is expected to work closely and intensively with the existing Head of Department Neurophysiology, particularly in teaching activities.

Candidates for the position should possess scientific excellence in the field of expertise and have many years of experience in organization and implementation of excellent preclinical teaching. The application of individuals whose current employment is in a non-university sector but who are interested in returning to academia is possible and encouraged. Similarly, individuals working at the interface of cell biology, systems biology or immunology and physiology are explicitly invited to apply.

Active contribution to areas that represent the main scientific foci of the faculty (oncology/immunology, infectious medicine, vascular medicine/type II diabetes) is required as well as participation in new scientific concepts in the field of personalized medicine and systems biomedicine. Furthermore, high commitment is expected in ongoing joint projects and the initiation of new research networks (Excellence Clusters, Collaborative Research Centers, Research Units, Research Training Groups) as well as in the German Centers for Health Research and in the programs within the framework of the Excellence Initiative.

In the field of teaching we expect extensive and outstandingly evaluated teaching experience and commitment especially with regard to innovative curricula in the study programs Human Medicine, Dentistry, Molecular Medicine and other courses of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tübingen, as well as the active and personal co-creation of lectures and other teaching formats. Moreover, the successful candidate is expected to promote innovative didactical concepts and to particularly participate in the SPIRiT teaching concept of the Faculty of Medicine. The linkage of the preclinical and clinical studies should be intensified and aligned with the main research areas of the Faculty of Medicine on the basis of the Profile-Plus Program. The position has a teaching load of nine hours per week (during lecture periods).

Required qualifications include a PhD or equivalent degree as well as postdoctoral qualifications and teaching experience equivalent to the requirements of a full professorship.
