The University Medicine Greifswald, a legal entity of the University of Greifswald, is seeking to fill the position of a

W2-Professorship for Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (m/f/d)

at the Institute of Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The tenure-track professorship is initially limited to 5 years.

We are looking for an internationally renowned scientist in an early career phase, who fully represents the subject of Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in research and teaching (in German language).

Responsibilities include participation in the organization and teaching of Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology for students of human medicine and dentistry as well as the participation in the teaching of students of natural science subjects, particularly human biology and biochemistry. The successful candidate shall complement the research interests of the existing research groups of the Institute of Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the areas of proteostasis or immune control of cellular function and complement and strengthen the research focus of the University Medicine and the University of Greifswald (Molecular Medicine, Community Medicine, Individualized Medicine, Digital Health Lab, Infection and Inflammation, Proteomics and Protein Technologies). Networking with the centers of health research (DZHK, DZNE, DZKJ) and the Helmholtz Institute for One Health (HIOH) is also desired.

The University Medicine Greifswald promotes and expects family-friendly leadership behavior.

In accordance with § 58 of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern State University Act (Landeshochschulgesetz M-V), the requirements for employment are, in addition to fulfilling the general service regulations, a completed university degree in a life science subject (including medicine), the doctorate and habilitation or habilitation-equivalent achievements in a relevant subject, as well as proof of independent teaching experience. Successful acquisition of external (third-party) funding, experience in research planning and international networking are expected.

The position will be filled according to § 61 LHG M-V. Pursuant to § 62a LHG M-V, the W2 position will be tenured after 5 years under the condition that performance requirements specified in detail in advance are met during the term of the W2 professorship.
