The Health 2030 Genome Center serves as a leading house for Swiss genomic medicine by supporting and facilitating research and clinical activities nationally in the areas of genetics and genomics.  It is located in Campus Biotech, an institution that hosts laboratories from EPFL, UNIGE, HUG and partner organizations working in biotechnology and life sciences. 

To ensure the delivery of the highest quality sequencing data and continue the expansion of our activities, we are looking to fill the position of Head of the DNA Sequencing Platform (DSP) of the Health 2030 Genome Center. 

The position will suit a self-motivated individual with strong technical and organizational skills who enjoys being part of an ISO 15189 accredited  laboratory team with daily interactions with Genome Center staff and client scientists. The successful candidate will be in a rewarding environment at the frontiers of genomics, molecular biology and medicine.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise the staff of the DNA Sequencing Platform, as well as all aspects of laboratory operations to ensure smooth functioning; establish sample processing priorities; assign sample processing identities and responsibilities; approve data distribution to users Participate as an active member of the Management Team of the Genome Center Evaluate and leverage standard and/or emerging technologies to optimize or implement laboratory processes Review all Laboratory procedures, protocols and policies as required by regulatory agencies, in close collaboration with the Quality Manager Works in close collaboration with the bioinformatics team to drive data analysis Collaborate and coordinate with other Genome Center staff to ensure smooth functioning of laboratory and timing processing of samples Present results/project progress at group and external meetings

COMPETENCIES:

Required:

  • PhD in a discipline such as Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Molecular Biology or related field, with at least 8-10 years of relevant experience in an industry or academic setting At least 5 years of experience in sample processing and data generation for Next Generation Sequencing (NGS); experience in running and managing NGS projects Good communication skills Fluency in English and French

Desirable:

  • Direct supervisory experience is a plus

 JOB INFORMATION:

  • Open-ended contract (CDI) Starting date: Early 2024 Activity rate: 80 -100%
