In accordance with § 62a of the State University Law of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (LHG M-V), the appointment to the W2 professorship, which is initially limited to five years, is linked to the promise of permanent employment under the condition that performance requirements specified in detail in advance are met during the term of the W2 professorship.
In accordance with the duties of the position, an internationally recognized, highly qualified scientist in an early career phase is sought to fully represent the subject in clinical, research and teaching activities. The professorship is intended to strengthen and further develop the spectrum of the clinic, especially in the area of anterior segment/glaucoma. Experience in conducting clinical studies, including multicenter studies and Investigator-Initiated Trials (IITs), is an advantage.
The personality to be appointed should have a very good surgical track record based on the surgical catalog as well as scientific track record based on publications and third-party funding. Active participation in the research priorities of the faculty (Digital Health Lab, Community Medicine, Molecular Medicine, Individualized Medicine), networking with University and non-University institutions at the scientific location Greifswald as well as commitment to teaching is expected. The clinical activity of a senior physician in Ophthalmology is expected. With appropriate suitability, the function of the deputy of the clinic director is planned in the medium term.
The University Medical Center Greifswald promotes family-friendly leadership behavior and supports dual-career couples in creating a common center of work and life. Prerequisites for employment are, in addition to the fulfillment of the general service regulations, a completed University degree, extensive experience in teaching, the doctorate and habilitation or habilitation-equivalent achievements in a relevant subject and the German Board certificate in Ophthalmology. Ability to speak and understand German fluently is also a prerequisite for this position.
The filling of the position is in accordance with § 61 LHG M-V. The position is intended to be employed under private law by the University Medical Center Greifswald with non-tariff remuneration.
