Epigenetic Characterization and Therapeutic Discovery in Pediatric Brain Tumors
Seeking a highly motivated, organized, and responsible individual to lead a major component of our new cancer genetics and epigenetics lab, as a foundation for their career advancement in academia or industry. Candidates will leverage cancer genomics and epigenomics data that we have generated in a variety of pediatric and adult brain tumors to undertake experiments in functional discovery, validation, as well as the development of integrated large-scale datasets using new genetic technologies. The basis and funding support for this project is described in our publication Krug et al., Cancer Cell, 2019, Michaelraj et al,. Cell, 2020, and Arabzade et al., Cancer Discovery 2021. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a willingness to learn new concepts and technical skills, but most importantly harbor an enthusiasm for working in a team-based environment and interfacing with national and international collaborative efforts. An ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in molecular biology-based techniques, experience/willingness to work with animal handling and procedures, and have a willingness to learn/work with complex computational software. Our ultimate goal in the Mack Lab is to simultaneously advance science of pediatric brain tumors in addition to providing an immersive program that advances the careers of students and research fellows.
