Postdoctoral positions in reproductive immunology and pregnancy biology - Erlebacher Lab, University of California San Francisco
Description
The laboratory of Dr. Adrian Erlebacher, M.D., Ph.D. at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF; https://adrianerlebacherlab.org) is seeking to recruit motivated postdoctoral fellows to work on various aspects of reproductive immunology and pregnancy biology. We are interested in applying our findings to clinical disorders of human pregnancy, including recurrent pregnancy failure and preterm labor. Current projects include:
1) Mechanisms of maternal immune tolerance towards the allogeneic fetus. Building upon our recent work published in Nature (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35236989/), we seek to understand how the specialized glycobiology of trophoblasts allows these cells to modulate systemic and local immune processes during pregnancy.
2) Epigenetic control of fertility and infertility. Building upon our recent work published in Cell Reports (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35108527/), we seek to understand how epigenetic processes within uterine stromal cells create the nurturing uterine environment critical for successful development of the implanted conceptus.
3) Immunological and epigenetic control of labor onset. Building upon our recent work published in J. Clin. Invest. (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29202469/) and Immunity (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36750100/), we seek to understand how immunological and epigenetic pathways control labor onset timing and contribute to the pathogenesis of preterm labor.
We work primarily using mouse models but also study these pathways, using clinical specimens, in humans.
Successful candidate must possess a recent Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and preferably have experience in experimental immunology, reproductive biology, glycobiology, and/or epigenetics. Excellent communication and writing skills are essential.
