The Faculty of Medicine invites applications for a

Professorship (W2) (6 years/tenure track)
of Clinical Obstetrics and Perinatal Medicine

commencing as soon as possible.

The professorship will be located at the Clinic and Policlinic of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University Hospital of LMU Munich.

The professorship covers the entire spectrum of the field of Obstetrics and Perinatal Medicine in research and medical education and comprises the clinical position as attending head of Obstetrics and Perinatal Medicine within the Clinic and Policlinic of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Applicants should have a national and international renowned scientific profile focusing on clinical research in Obstetrics and Perinatal Medicine. Long year experience in high-risk obstetrics, prenatal diagnostics (DEGUM III or DEGUM instructor) and vaginal deliveries are required.

In addition, continuous scientific publications on clinical obstetrics and perinatal medicine in relevant journals, extensive experience in obstetrical structure and risk management and in the implementation of clinical standards are expected. High communicative and social competence as well as experience in structuring obstetrical care are important. Close cooperation with the other clinics and institutes is required, especially with the partners of the interdisciplinary perinatal center.

LMU Munich seeks to appoint a highly qualified junior academic to this professorship and, therefore, especially encourages early-career scholars to apply. Prerequisites for this position are a university degree, a doctoral degree or a comparable specific qualification and a board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology with subspecialization in Obstetrics and Perinatal Medicine. With an excellent record in research and teaching to date, prospective candidates will have demonstrated the potential for an outstanding academic career.

The initial appointment will be for six years. After a minimum of three years, it can be converted into a permanent position pending a positive evaluation of the candidate’s performance in research and teaching as well as his or her personal aptitude and if all legal conditions are met.
