The Université Côte d'Azur (UCA) is recruiting a Junior Professor Chair to conduct basic or/and clinical research in the area of aging and age-related pathologies. The priority will be given to scientists working in following areas: Bone Aging and Osteoporosis; Inflammaging; Artificial Intelligence and Computational Biology of Aging; Female Reproductive Longevity; Cardiovascular Aging; Age-related muscular degeneration and related pathologies; Brain aging and neurodegenerative diseases. The position is for 3 years in first instance with subsequent conversion into a fully tenured Professor position at UCA after successful evaluation.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a young and dynamic scientist to develop aging research in the context of IRCAN, an internationally renowned laboratory on aging and cancer. By focusing on fundamental biological problems, IRCAN aims to develop novel strategies to prevent or combat age-related disease and cancer and to provide evidence-based recommendations for healthy aging and wellbeing. The IRCAN teams are well-positioned to address questions about aging and age-related diseases using collaborative, multi-disciplinary, comparative and technology-oriented approaches as well as with the use of different model organisms. The Institute is actively involved in developing novel tools and technologies as a strategic focus to answer fundamental questions related to aging. Moreover, emphasizing aging research represents a strategic focus not only of IRCAN but also of UCA with a rapidly evolving environment demanding greater research and knowledge in this thematic from the academic, medical and industrial communities.
In addition to her/his salary, the successful candidate will be awarded €200,000 from the National Research Agency (ANR) including at least €120,000 for doctoral or post-doctoral salaries. An additional startup package will be also provided.
The laureate will be in charge of teaching aging biology at different levels of scientific and medical cursus. During the first 3 years, the person recruited will have 42 hours of lectures or 64 hours of practical or directed work per year. If tenure is granted, the recruited person will fulfill work activities until reaching a full service of 128 hours of lectures or 192 hours of practical or directed work in the department of life sciences.
