Postdoc position in theoretical quantum dynamics

There is an opening for a 12.5h/week postdoc position of 24 months duration in the subject of theoretical chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, Aarhus University.

The starting date is September 1, 2023.
Place of work is Langelandsgade 140, 8000 Aarhus C., Denmark.

We are seeking candidates with strong interest and expertise in method development in the context of quantum molecular dynamics, with specific interest in nuclear coordinates, kinetic energy operators and potential energy surfaces. The successful candidate is anticipated to contribute to the further development of the MidasCpp program.

The ideal candidates have a PhD degree in theoretical Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, or related disciplines. Important background includes strong analytical abilities and programming skills. Collaborative skills are necessary as well as a high level of independence. Other key-words of notice are: quantum dynamics, second quantization, quantum chemistry, high performance computing, potential energy surfaces, kinetic energy operators, molecular vibrations, nuclear quantum dynamics. Previous experience with C++ programming will be considered a strong advantage.

It has a permanent staff of ~30 full and associate professors, a support staff of ~30 people, ~150 PhD students and postdocs and around 400 students.

Application procedure
Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.

Formalities and salary range
Natural Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
