At the Faculty of Medicine of Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, a

W2 professorship for point-of-care imaging of inflammatory processes

is to be filled as soon as possible for a limited period of 5 years.

The professorship with duties in research and teaching is located at the Medical Clinic III (Director: Prof. Dr. med. P. Brossart). In-depth expertise in sonographic imaging in rheumatological diseases is expected, as is the specialist qualification (‘Facharzt’) in internal medicine with a focus on rheumatology. The prerequisite is a scientific focus in the field of ultrasound imaging in rheumatological diseases, especially vasculitides, in addition to profound knowledge and publications in the field of application and integration of point-of-care ultrasound devices in patient care and medical teaching. In addition, DEGUM level III (course leader) for sonography of the locomotor organs and at least DEGUM level I in sonography of the abdomen are required. Furthermore, medical teaching skills as well as publications on teaching studies (interprofessional as well as with students) are required. The certificate in medical didactics of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia or a comparable qualification should be presented.

The call is aimed at physicians with outstanding scientific achievements and corresponding third-party funding. Experience with cross-disciplinary collaboration and leadership of an imaging working group are desirable. Close cooperation with the Cluster of Excellence ImmunoSensation2, the research focal points of the faculty and their research associations, as well as other faculties of the University of Bonn is expected.

Prerequisites for employment are a completed university degree in medicine as well as habilitation or proof of equivalent scientific achievements and experience in teaching pursuant to Section 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz NRW).
