OMRF was founded as a non-profit organization in 1946 with the mission of conducting basic biomedical research to help people live longer, healthier lives. OMRF is an independent, not-for-profit biomedical research institute adjacent to the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC) campus in Oklahoma City. Oklahoma City offers a dynamic and flourishing downtown area, with low cost of living, short commute times and a diversified economy.

Our scientists are dedicated to understanding and developing more effective treatments for human disease, focusing on such critical research areas as heart disease, cancer, lupus and cardiovascular disease. With more than 700 U.S. and international patents, OMRF ranks among the nation’s leaders in patents per scientist.
