50th Year Anniversary of Penile Implants

Penile implants have changed the treatment of Erectile Dysfunction dramatically over the past 50 years. This Special issue of the International Journal of Impotence Research focuses on all aspects related to the restoration of erectile function by means of penile implants. All kinds of available penile implants, as well as various surgical techniques, are covered in detail by leading experts in the field. Novel antibiotic and antimicrobial regimens are discussed in order to reduce the risk of infection during penile prosthesis implantation. Special surgical situations and techniques, such as penile implants in Peyronie’s patients, priapism or in trans-sex patients are also described in detail. Additionally, patient selection as well as pre- and postoperative considerations are discussed. G. Hatzichristodoulou and other well-known and renowned experts will cover all fields associated with penile implants in order to give an up-to-date overview, and to stimulate new ideas and research projects. The ultimate goal is to further improve patient care in this promising field of Sexual Medicine.
