Control manometry (a) reveals a sequential peristaltic wave and normal LES relaxation in response to a swallow. Following an infusion of hemoglobin (b), deglutition produces simultaneous esophageal contraction and absent LES relaxation, mimicking the manometric profile of achalasia.
