In each panel, the top trace represents firing frequency of the nerve fiber, the middle trace is the nerve action potentials, and the bottom trace is distending pressure (50 mmHg, 30 seconds). Memantine hydrochloride dose-dependently (1–100 mumol/kg, i.v.) inhibited responses to esophageal distention.
