Glenn T. Furuta

The focus of Glenn T. Furuta's work is understanding the pathophysiological mechanisms of eosinophilic gastrointestinal diseases. He received his medical degree and completed his pediatric residency at Baylor College of Medicine. His postgraduate work was completed at the Combined Program in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition in Boston where he focused on determining molecular mechanisms of allergic reactions in the gastrointestinal tract. In collaboration with his clinical research colleagues, he has published a number of original articles defining the clinicopathological features of eosinophilic esophagitis. His laboratory work focuses on understanding the role of eosinophil specific mediators on intestinal epithelial function.
