Volume 20 Issue 5, May 2018

On the cover | Rachel Howard

This cover was created to symbolize how advances in genetics have influenced pregnancy and prenatal screening worldwide. The strands of DNA fragments originating from the silhouette of the pregnant woman and scattered throughout the image represent free fetal DNA in maternal blood. These fragments can be analyzed via noninvasive prenatal screening. The images of Australia and the Netherlands reflect the international nature of the work and the countries represented by two papers in this issue.
