Aims and Scope

Evidence-Based Dentistry (EBD) aims to create a dialogue between dental practitioners and dental researchers, in order to drive new research and promote the use of the best available evidence to inform clinical decision making. We ensure that the journal has a clear focus on those areas that are most useful to practitioners, evaluating the evidence and providing guidance concerning the value of the author's conclusions.

EBD covers the full scope of dental and oral health disciplines, including dental and maxillofacial radiology, dental public health, endodontics, oral and maxillofacial pathology, oral medicine, oral microbiology, orthodontics, paediatric dentistry, periodontology, prosthodontics, restorative dentistry and special care dentistry.

EBD is published by Springer Nature on behalf of the British Dental Association. Members receive the journal as part of their membership. The journal is bound into the British Dental Journal quarterly and is available through an institutional and personal subscription. 

EBD publishes commentaries, systematic reviews, methodology articles, and book reviews - more information can be found here. We welcome submissions of systematic reviews and methodology articles. Commentaries and book reviews are usually by invitation only (though we occasionally consider unsolicited pieces when we have a call for papers on a particular subject). All article types should be submitted via the EBD submission portal.
