Article Processing Charges

Communications Engineering is an open access journal. To publish in Communications Engineering, authors are required to pay an article processing charge (APC).

What is an APC, and what are authors paying for?

As costs are involved in every stage of the publication process, from administrating peer review to proofreading and hosting the final article on dedicated servers, authors are asked to pay an APC in order for their article to be published open access under a Creative Commons licence.

The 2022 APC for all published Articles is as follows, subject to VAT or local taxes where applicable:

$1990 (The Americas*, Greater China**, and Japan)
£1390 (United Kingdom)
€1690 (Europe & Rest of the World)

Open access fundingThe APC is determined at the date of acceptance. For a list of our APCs please see here. Visit our open research site for further information about APCs at Nature Portfolio.

Springer Nature offers an APC support service to make it easier for authors to discover and apply for open access funding. To learn more please visit the Springer Nature funding & support services page.

APC waiver policy

We offer APC waivers and discounts for papers published in our fully open access journals whose corresponding authors are based in the world’s lowest income countries (see our APC waivers and discounts policy for further information). Requests from other authors for APC waivers and discounts will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and may be granted in cases of financial need.

All applications for APC waivers and discounts should be made as part of the submission process; requests made during the review process or after acceptance will not be considered. For more information on APCs, please see our Journal Pricing FAQs.
