The novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 has precipitated the present outbreak of COVID-19, a highly infectious respiratory disease. This Collection brings together advances in the tools researchers are developing to combat this pandemic – from methods of detection, to potential treatment – updates relating to current events and epidemiological research, and insights into the virus’ origin, evolution and biology, including potential animal vectors.
All articles have undergone Scientific Reports' standard peer review process and have been subject to all of the journal’s standard policies. This includes the journal’s policy on competing interests. The Guest Editors declare no competing interests with the submissions that they have handled through the peer review process.
