Central South University (CSU) was formally established in 2000 through a merger of three distinguished universities in China with strong links to industry, --- Central South University of Technology (CSUT), Hunan Medical University (HMU), and Changsha Railway University (CRU). Built on the strengths of the three merged universities, CSU has developed into a national key university, with a strong academic reputation in nonferrous metals, rail transit, and medicine.
