The complement system as a therapeutic target

The complement system has a key role in the innate immune system, and its dysregulation is involved in a wide range of diseases. Building on the success of pioneering drugs that specifically target the complement system to treat several rare diseases, there is growing interest in pursuing novel targets in the system and expanding the range of diseases in which complement-targeted drugs could be applied.
