Frailty is defined as a decreased ability to cope with routine or acute stressors due to age-associated declines in physiological function across the body’s systems. This condition may be characterized by sarcopenia, anemia, increased cortisol, decreased androgens and growth hormones, insulin resistance, compromised immune function, micronutrient deficiencies, and oxidative stress.
This Collection will highlight original research on the causes, consequences, and incidence of frailty in older adults.
