Epigenetics within the tumor microenvironment

Advances in our understanding of tumor progression and relapse have underlined the importance of tumor microenvironment, which comprises components within the immediate vicinity of tumor cells such as fibroblasts, immune cells and the extracellular matrix. The exact way in which tumor microenvironment affects metastatic spread and acquired resistance to therapy is not fully understood, but accumulating evidence suggests epigenetic mechanisms are involved. This Collection presents original research focusing on epigenetic changes in tumor cells and their surrounding microenvironment.
