Burnout and stress

Submission status
Submission deadline

Burnout is a state of physical and emotional exhaustion resulting from chronic occupational stress. With our lives becoming more fast-paced and often more stressful as a result, burnout is sometimes seen as a symptom of our modern-day age. The COVID-19 pandemic and associated personal, health, and occupational pressures, have brought about a rise in burnout cases in many industries, including academia. As such, awareness around contributing factors to burnout and the development of effective interventions and therapies are of utmost importance.

This Collection welcomes psychological research aiming to solve questions such as how and when stress can turn into burnout, what risk factors make people more or less prone to heightened stress and burnout, and what interventions are the most effective.
