Representative fields displayed (A) CD3 (green) or (B) CD68 (red) immunofluorescence (original magnification X20). (C) Quantitative analysis of CD3+, CD68+ and CD68+/CD206+ cell content in C57BL/6J and ApoE−/− either ompK36-immunized or non-immunized control mice,is shown. CD3+ cell number was normalized on total villi area. CD68+ cells were normalized versus total cell number present inside villi (epithelial cells excluded). CD68+/CD206+ cells were normalized versus CD68+ cells. Data are presented as mean ± s.e.m. Cells were counted in at least 5 sections/mouse in 5 mice/group. Statistical analysis: unpaired student t test. *P < 0.05.
