Plot of the incident focused beam for perpendicular polarisation for λ = 1300 nm in a medium of nmed = 1.35. This is the shape of the incident beam when no scatterers are present. The beam arises from numerical integration of the complex input amplitudes given to the Debye-Wolf integral. Note that in the limits of the Debye-Wolf integral determined by the NA, the refractive index of the medium is set to 1 in order to avoid strong side lobes.
