(a) IF staining of megalin (red channel) and cubilin (green channel) in the kidney of the 3-day-old mouse, analyzed by confocal microscopy, reveals that both transporters have apical localization in the epithelial cells of cortical renal tubules. Cell nuclei were counterstained with DAPI (blue). Scale bars correspond to 20 µm. (b) IF staining of megalin-cubilin complex in the kidneys of the 3-, 5-, 7-, 9- and 11-day old neonatal mice. analyzed by confocal microscopy, reveals that both transporters have apical localization in the epithelial cells of cortical renal tubules. Cell nuclei were counterstained with DAPI (blue). To confirm the specificity of megalin and cubilin detection, kidney sections were incubated only with the secondary antibodies (negative control).
