Two possible schemes for planning interceptive hand movements ahead of the moving target, at the final interception location. (a) Predictive scheme. Target position and motion information is used to determine a future interception point. This serves as the goal position of the reach, which is thus compared to hand position to determine the movement vector. (b) One possible non-predictive scheme. Target and hand position are compared ‘prior’ to integrating information about target motion. The ‘movement vector’ in this scheme is aimed at the continuously changing target position.
