The dimeric complex consists of mTOR and mLST8 at the center, with Raptor subunits at the periphery; these facilitate substrate recruitment and form a scaffold for regulatory proteins. mTORC1 is recruited to the lysosome, where it is activated by Rag GTPases — small obligate heterodimers of Rag A or Rag B with Rag C or Rag D — anchored to the lysosome membrane via the Ragulator–Lamtor complex.
