In an increasingly hyper-polarized world, the weight of public perception can dissuade policymakers from implementing scientifically sound health policies. The scientific community has a responsibility to make facts outweigh opinion.

The world urgently needs more innovation-driven solutions to deal with pressing public-health issues. The development of health policies for rapid, effective and sustainable implementation of these innovations is crucial if governments aim to achieve the health-related sustainable development goals.
