We test twelve thresholds in the standard deviation of same-day, in-track surface water retrievals (‘σ threshold’) over five tiles, and compare the resulting number of lakes observed, number of reservoirs observed, median range in water level (metres), median range in reservoirs (metres), median range in natural water bodies (metres), mean standard deviation of same-day, in-track surface water retrievals (mean σ) and the resulting per cent storage associated with reservoirs. Overall, we find that the choice of threshold influences the number of lakes and reservoirs observed but otherwise has little impact on our conclusions.
