Going in circles: circMGA–HNRNPL feedback loop in bladder cancer

New data, presented in Oncogene, show that a hsa_circ_0000591 (circMGA)–heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein L (HNRNPL) complex forms a positive feedback loop that enhances recruitment of CD8+ T cells, has a tumour-suppressive effect and boosts immunotherapy in bladder cancer.

RNA sequencing analysis of bladder cancer samples revealed differentially expressed circular RNAs (circRNAs). Further investigation showed that circMGA was consistently downregulated in tissue samples and bladder cancer cell lines. This circRNA was highly stable and localized to the cytoplasm.
